Graphic Design Minor Poster
Typotecture: Type + Structure
Awards :: United States International Poster Biennial 2026 (usipb.com)—Selected as 1 of the 100 posters to travel the world and is currently on display at the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA); Graphis Poster Awards 2026 (graphis.com)
Project :: This poster promotes graphic design courses offered in the summer of 2025 in Auburn University's graphic design program. The classes are offered to students outside of the design program and, therefore, posted around campus to reach the intended audience, including art, marketing, business, and engineering students. The viewer can activate the poster animation by downloading the Artivive app and hovering the viewfinder over the printed poster.
Approach ::The design of this motion poster involved several steps. The initial phase began with experiments in creative coding through p5.js. The final poster graphic and animation in the background were custom-developed in collaboration with an AI tool to help write the javascript (link to the script sketch in p5.js—https://editor.p5js.org/courtneycrow/sketches/HAJzFJb-I). A hi-resolution image and the animation were captured from the script and further developed with Adobe InDesign and AfterEffects to create the final poster and animation.
Results :: The poster was distributed across the university campus in locations specifically targeted at the intended audience. Several architecture, marketing, business, interdisciplinary, and mechanical engineering students are enrolled to learn about the field of visual communication.
